Leave the scoreboard behind
You don’t owe anyone a particular level of interest in sex. Start with how you feel, rather than a comparison with a friend, a partner, or a story online. Intimacy is something to choose, not a target to achieve.
Context matters
Stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties, pregnancy, menopause, some medicines, and health conditions can affect desire. Discomfort such as vaginal dryness can also play a part. A change can have more than one explanation.
Notice what is happening around you without turning it into a test. Are you feeling safe, rested, connected, or under pressure? These questions can open a conversation; they cannot diagnose a medical cause.
Support is an option
If a change worries you, or you think medicine or contraception may be involved, talk to a qualified clinician. Don’t stop prescribed medication without advice.
With a partner, try: ‘I’d like us to talk about closeness without an expectation that it leads to sex.’ You can decide together what connection feels like today.
TAKE THIS WITH YOU
Your comfort and your choices matter. Wanting support and accepting yourself can exist at the same time.
